Cross tabulations and correlations were used to describe the distribution of population and sampled facilities in the NMNMSS, and to calculate the MNM mortality ratio (the ratio between the number of MNM cases and the number of maternal deaths) for different complications and organ dysfunctions. The spmap†package of Stata was used to draw a map of the sampled surveillance sites. The ggalluvial†package of R was used to produce the alluvial diagrams. Not using a surgical guide that is mandatory during placement of an implant for accurate positioning and angle. This requires custom impressions of a patient’s teeth. Next, study models are poured in stone and a guide is fabricated in the laboratory or by the restoring dentist or surgeon. Many do not do this because it takes extra time, materials, and lab fees. The catch: While it saves time and money, skipping this step frequently results in poor implant placement that can be too close to other teeth, tilted outward or inward, or set too deep. The result is an abnormal looking crown that may be difficult to clean, cause potential gum recession and bone loss, and increase the risk of implant failure. In Raleigh, the provision of dental services is beginning to change, thanks to the progressive thinking of some dentists. This change involves making a broader range of dental care services available under a single roof. General dentists willing to invest in appropriate training can offer a broader range of dental care services, a concept sometimes referred to as Comprehensive Dentistry. Some also include Cosmetic Dentistry services. Having services provided under a single roof also eliminates the need to obtain consents and transfer dental records from one practice to another.

Thanks for sharing your story. I’m 32 years old and I’ve decided to make a career change from Software Engineering to Physical Therapy. My heart just isn’t in it anymore, and I’ve chosen to pursue a degree in PT (I won’t bore you with the details as to how I arrived at this decision). Anyway, I’ll be finished with my last prerequisite class in May 2016 but I’m torn about when I should actually apply to a program. Being a non-traditional student, I don’t really know what the norm is. Should I apply right away in July once the application period opens? Or should I wait until the following year? I still have a couple things left to check off my list like taking the GRE, and getting more exposure hours (I have hours, but only from 1 place). So, I’m just trying figure out my timeline. Any advice you could offer would be great! Thanks in advance. The media ecology is ever changing, just like our actual ecology. We have witnessed countless technologies converge, opening completely new and interesting avenues. In the near future, the media ecology is posed to have another seismic addition, the convergence of virtual realities and the physical world. We see this beginning to permeate our culture with Augmented Reality technologies such as Google Glass and technologies which allow for the transference between the digital and physical (a relationship which previously had operated only in the other direction) with 3D printing. There are a number of technology leaders who are making this push, but perhaps none provides a better example of convergence theory than Elon Musk’s recently revealed rocket parts manufacturing design system. Musk and his team utilized a number of pre-existing technologies which have recently entered the ecology the Leap motion controller (which allows for naturalistic interaction with the visual data on the screen), the Oculus Rift (which creates a fully immersive virtual environment), 3D printing, and a number of other technologies, to create a new way of designing and manufacturing new rocket parts for his private space program SpaceX (, 2013). As a brief aside, when the article calls Elon Musk a real-life Tony Stark†I could not agree more, this man is my idol and is setting to change the world. Now this convergence of technologies could lead to the same mobility and speed that has been associated with the digital world to the creation of physical objects, essentially combining and revolutionizing the design and manufacturing process. Developments and revolutions like this one would not be possible if it weren’t for the interactions and convergences within the media ecology.
