International Journal of Oral and Dental Health is an open access journal that highlights the advances in oral health in detail. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to interact with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team to ensure that the oral health care needs of patients are effectively managed. Selected students are given the opportunity to spend time at a Flinders RHSA rural site for Community Rural Engagement Week (CREW), normally held in August of each year. During its early beginnings, dentistry was not seen as a profession in itself. This often led barbers and general physicians to perform dental procedures. Barbers often limited their dental practice to teeth removal to alleviate toothaches and heal chronic tooth infections.
